Debbie Keen South Hill Designs Team Leader

I’m excited to bring you another interview today by one of my leaders at South Hill Designs. I first met Debbie Kean through the medical transcription industry. In January I noticed that she had posted a picture of a really beautiful locket so I wrote to ask about it. The rest, as they say, is history. I am so grateful to Debbie for introducing me to South Hill Designs. I’m also thankful that she agreed to do this interview. Here’s Debbie!

Share a little about yourself

I am originally from Wisconsin but left 14 years ago when I married a Marine. We lived in North Carolina, California, and Japan, and when my husband retired, we moved San Antonio, TX. I have one daughter who lives in Vegas with her husband and my 1-year-old granddaughter.

We often talk about finding our “why” for doing what we do. What is your “why” for joining South Hill Designs?

I started in direct sales around 2001 ,but never accomplished much with it. When I went to my first national conference, I was in awe of the company leaders, the numbers they posted in sales and recruits, the size of their incomes, the recognition they received, but more than anything, the passion they had for the company, their teams, and the bond they had with each other. I have been with several direct sales companies over the years, but it wasn’t until I discovered South Hill Designs but I felt the spark and the ignition of the passion. I would also like to help my family become debt free and build a significant retirement fund to keep us comfortable and secure in our golden years.

Did you have a background in direct sales prior to joining South Hill Designs?

Yes, I have been with several direct sales companies prior to joining SHD. With each company, I loved the products, but I am IMPASSIONED with South Hill Designs products.

You have risen in the ranks rapidly since joining South Hill Designs and quickly advanced to Team Leader status! Congratulations! How did you do it and how attainable is that for others?

Thank you so much! I can hardly believe that I have achieved this level or how blessed I have been, and it is absolutely attainable for others!! I started out doing a lot of marketing on Facebook and creating a fan base, which is really easy to do – no special skills needed. In addition, I have a very supportive and knowledgeable upline who provided me with wonderful training, which I am now passing on to my team.

If you could share your top three tips for success, what would they be?

  • Attitude! You will get back what you put out there. If your approach is nonchalant, that’s what you will get back; therefore, be enthusiastic and show your excitement. Dress for success, even when just running errands, and always be ready to do business by having business cards, catalogs, and other literature such as hostess packets with you at all times, even if just in your car.
  • Goals! Always have a goal to work towards. If you don’t have a goal, how will you know you’re successful?
  • Ask! To keep your calendar full and your team growing, all you have to do is ask. It takes approximately 9 no’s to get to a yes and direct sales is a numbers game, so the more people you ask, the more yeses you will receive!
  • Anything else you’d like to share?

Most people do not truly understand the income potential in direct sales or the impact that team building has on that commission check. I believe it is my responsibility as a leader to help the members of my team see that and provide them with the tools they need to realize their “why” through training, support, and friendship.

South Hill is such an amazing company, and it is an honor and blessing to be a part of their family.

Thanks, Debbie, for some great information!
